Two glass jars of creamy yogurt on a rustic wooden table with a spoonful in front, perfect for making a tangy and tender Greek yogurt chicken marinade. This simple base works beautifully for yogurt chicken recipes, especially when creating flavorful Greek chicken yogurt dishes or a protein-rich Greek yogurt marinade.

Greek Yogurt Herb Chicken Marinade

A creamy and herby Greek yogurt marinade that makes tender, juicy chicken every time.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill or oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together all marinade ingredients.
  2. Place raw chicken (breasts, thighs, or drumsticks) in a large freezer-safe zip-top bag.
  3. Pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal the bag and gently move the chicken around to coat evenly.
  4. Remove as much air as possible from the bag before sealing completely.
  5. Lay the bag flat, label it, and freeze for up to 3 months.
  6. To cook: Thaw the chicken in the refrigerator overnight. Discard the marinade and grill the chicken over medium heat until fully cooked (165°F internal temperature).

Notes

  1. Makes chicken super tender — perfect for kabobs!
  2. This marinade is freezer-friendly and works great for meal prep. You can also use it with pork, shrimp, or grilled vegetables.
