Easy Ants on a Log – Recipe with Graham Crackers

Looking for a healthy snack for the kids after school? Ants on a log with graham crackers is a fun recipe that gives kids whole grains, fiber, and protein all in a cute little package they will love. After school, your kids need a break to relax regroup before they start homework.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 to 6 sheets of graham crackers (4 rectangles per sheet)
  • 2 to 4 stocks of celery for the original version
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips
  • Club Cracker
  • Cream Cheese spreadable
  • Goldfish cracker

Instructions

  1. Seperate the grahm crackers into smaller rectangles. Arrange them on a serving plate.
  2. If using celery, cut the celery into 2-inch stocks
  3. Spread the peanut butter onto the crackers or in the celery
  4. Top the peanutbutter with the mini chocolate chips (the mini ants). Top the club crackers with cream cheese and gold fish.
  5. You can spread a few of the chocolate chips or the goldfish on the plate to let your little one know some of the “Ants” are running away. They can also add chocolate chips and goldfish to their crackers as they get older.

Notes

  • The tradtional version of Ants on a Log is celery, peanut butter with raisins on top as the ants.
  • Growning up my family used celery, cream cheese, and raisins.
  • Make the recipe your own for your family. Experiment with the flavors your kids like to give them a healthy after school snack.
