Ingredients
- 1 & 1/2 lbs Flank Steak sliced thin & bite-size pieces
- 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups of sliced mushrooms, or 2 small cans of sliced mushrooms
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 2 cans La Choy CHOP SUEY VEGETABLES Asian Cuisine
- If not using the mixed vegetables: 1 – 5 oz can bamboo shoots, drained & rinsed, 1 can of bean sprouts, 1 – 5 oz can water chestnuts sliced drained & rinsed, and 1 can sweet red peppers drained & rinsed.
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- Optional Rice to serve over.
Instructions
- The sukiyaki beef for this dish needs to be very thin. You can cut your own thin beef or you can buy thinly sliced beef at your local store.
- Use a large skillet so that you have plenty of room and set it to medium-high heat.
- Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and heat for 1 minute.Ā
- Add the beef to your pan. Start by getting a good sear on the beef. Moving the beef around to get all sides brown.
- Push the meat to one side of the pan and start adding the veggies. (you can also remove the meat and set it aside)
- Add a little more oil if needed and add the onions, and cook until they are translucent.
- Add the mushrooms and the Asian veggies and mix all to get there with the meat.
- Reduce the heat to medium.
- While the meat and veggies are still cooking make the sauce.
- Mix together the flour, water brown sugar, and soy sauce. Make sure to mix the flour and water with a fork or whisk to make sure you do not have any lumps.
- Add the sauce to the pan and cook on low until the sauce thickens
- When thick and bubbly, remove from heat, and serve over rice.
Notes
How to make rice on the stovetop: 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water if made on the stovetop. Bring to a boil and reduce heat, cook on low for 15 minutes until water is absorbed.
How to make rice in theĀ Instant Pot: 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water in the inner pot of the Instant Pot. Secure the lid, and set it to the rice setting. High pressure 3 minutes, slow-release 10 minutes.Ā Do not fast release or the rice will burn on the bottom.
