Warm, hearty, healthy, comfort soup. Old washed Split Pea Soup Recipe made for the modern mom in the Instant Pot. A simple soup recipe that all you do is dump in the ingredients and set the time.

  • Total Time: 35 minute
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 package of split peas (rinsed and drained) with the ham flavor seasoning packet (packet optional)
  • 4 Carrots, peeled and diced
  • 3 stocks of Celery, washed and diced
  • 1 medium white or yellow Onion diced
  • 23 Clove of Garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of Rice Wine Vinegar (optional)
  • 7 to 8 oz of chopped leftover Ham
  • 4 cups of Vegetable Broth
  • 4 cups of Water
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. First, take your bag of split peas and rinse them with cold water. Take a look and make sure there are not any small stones in the package.
  2. While the peas are draining I would suggest chopping all of your vegetables before you do anything else.  Cut onion, carrots, and celery into uniform bite-size. I use my Vidalia Vegetable Chopper to make all the vegetables a uniform size and it goes more quickly.
  3. Add to a 6-quart Instant Pot the package of split peas with the package of flavor seasoning, the chopped onion, carrots, celery, garlic, the chopped ham, wine vinegar, 4 cups of vegetable broth, and 4 cups of water.
  4. Stir and set the lid on top and close the vent.
  5. Set the Instant Pot to High Pressure for 10 minutes with a 10-minute natural release.
  6. Serve with warm crusty bread.
