We love Chinese takeout and have been ordering takeout most Fridays at the end of a busy week. It does not matter if you work at home or have an hour’s commute, we as parents are all tired by the end of the week. But ordering Chinese takeout is expensive and has a lot of ingredients we are trying to avoid.

Why is Crockpot Sesame Chicken Better to Make Takeout at Home
- You have control over the ingredients: When you make Chinese takeout at home, you can choose healthier ingredients. For example, I like to use low-sodium soy sauce and make sure I have a brown rice option instead of just white rice. I also always add more vegetables to my recipe.
- You can control the amount of oil and salt used: Restaurant dishes often contain higher amounts of oil and salt than homemade versions. When you make Chinese takeout at home, you can control the amount of oil and salt used in the dish, which can help reduce the calories in your dinner.
- You can choose leaner proteins: When you make Chinese takeout at home, you can choose leaner proteins such as chicken breast or tofu, rather than higher-fat options like deep-fried chicken or beef with heavy sauces.
