How to Make Homemade Fresh Pasta Using Pasta Maker
There’s something magical about turning simple ingredients like flour and eggs into silky, fresh homemade pasta. Have you ever wanted to stop shopping for store-bought pasta with ingredients you can not pronounce? Have you always wanted to make homemade pasta dough, but it looked so complicated? Now, with a modern pasta maker machine, you can have healthy, delicious homemade pasta and have fun with the family making all the shapes.
While the traditional homemade pasta is a classic, using a pasta maker machine makes the process smoother, quicker, and, honestly, a new way for familyfun. Whether it’s your first time making fresh pasta or you’re looking for better results, this step-by-step guide will walk you through everything you need.
Why You Will Love Making Fresh Homemade Pasta:
There are so many good reasons to try making your own pasta at home. First, fresh pasta cooks faster than dried pastaβusually in just 3 minutes. Second, the texture is unbeatable. When you make fresh homemade pasta, you get that perfect al dente bite with a tenderness that dried pasta just can’t match.
You will love the convenience of making a pound of pasta in under 19 minutes. It is so easy and simple; just add the ingredients into the machine and watch the magic happen. Your kids will love watching the shapes just start extruding from the machine and help cut the lengths.
You will love that you control all the ingredients. Try white flour, whole wheat flour, cemilia flour, rice flour, and even gluten-free blends. Add herbs and spices. Use an egg for more protein and a smooth texture or make your pasta egg-free.
Plus, it’s a great way to involve the whole family in the kitchen. Kids love adding the ingredients, watching it mix, and cutting the lengths. And the best part? You can pair your pasta with your favorite sauceβwhether itβs a rich tomato sauce, creamy Alfredo, or a light olive oil and garlic blend.

Why I love the Emeril Lagasse Pasta & Beyond Machine:
My husband saw an infomercial. I know never to leave my husbands watching infocommercials. The commercial was for the Emeril Lagasse Pasta & Beyond machine. He purchased this machine before I got out of bed, and it was my birthday present that year. I love it so much. I have always wanted to make homemade pasta, our family name is Buonpane, and never had the time or patience to do it the family Italian way.

With the pasta machine, all I have to do is add all the ingredients into the machine according to the instructions, and I have perfect pasta every time. I have made plain white flour pasta, whole wheat flour pasta, and my favorite is a blend of light whole wheat flour with semolina flour.
In the second measuring cup provided with the machine, you combine an egg, water, and a splash of olive oil, and in less than 15 to 18 minutes do you have the most delicious fresh pasta. The pasta cooks up in three minutes, can be stored for a day or two in the refrigerator, and can be stored in the freezer for a few weeks.
Our family makes homemade pasta sauce from our own gardens to tomatoes, and the combination of the fresh pasta with our fresh tomato sauce is simply delicious. Find our pasta sauce recipe here.

Why Use a Pasta Machine to Make Fresh Pasta?
While you can roll out pasta by hand, using a pasta machine or noodle machine makes the process faster, easier, and more consistent. A pasta maker helps you mix the dough to the perfect consistency and then cut it evenly using various pasta attachments.
If you love making homemade pasta regularly, an electric pasta maker is the best tool to save time and ensure perfect results every time. For anyone serious about mastering fresh pasta at home, investing in the best electric pasta maker is a game-changer in the kitchen.
If you think it can’t be that easy, you will never believe it until you see it. Follow the simple recipe for your first batch, and you will never go back to store dry pasta.

Ingredients Needed for Homemade Pasta:
This basic dough recipe uses simple ingredients you likely already have at home:
- 2 dry measuring cups of all-purpose flour (or mix with semolina flour for texture)
- 1 large egg
- Water up to the line on the measuring container with the egg.
- 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
- Extra flour for dusting (you’ll need a little bit throughout the process)
You can experiment with different flours, like soft wheat flour, to change the texture. Just remember, room temperature eggs and oil work best for making a smooth pasta dough.
How to Set Up the Pasta Machine:
Before you begin making your dough, you need to get your pasta maker ready:
- Set up the machine on a flat surface, make sure the paddle and the pasta disc you want to use in attached at the end.
- Spray some spray oil just behind the pasta disc to make the pasta extrude smoothly.
- Set out a cutting board under the pasta disk to catch the pasta. Lightly flour the cutting board to keep the pasta from sticking.

How to Make Fresh Pasta with the Electric Pasta Machine:
- Add the flour to the mixing bowl and set the lid on top.
- Press the on button and then press the cycle button one time for 1/2 a pound of pasta (one measuring cup of flour) and twice for 1 pound of pasta (two measuring cups of flour). This starts the mixing.
- Now take the wet ingredient cup, and for 1 pound of pasta, add one egg and break it up with a fork. Add water to the line for one pound and add 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil.
- Add all the wet ingredients to the top slot slowly as the flour mixes. When mixed, the machine will automatically start extruding the pasta.
- When the pasta is extruded, cut it to your desired length. The machine comes with 8 different pasta shapes and sizes.
- When ready to make your pasta, bring a large pot of boiling water to a rolling boil. Add a splash of olive oil and cook the pasta for 3 minutes until itβs perfectly al dente. Toss with sauce and serve immediately! If cooking from frozen, it will take 4 minutes.
