Teriyaki Flank Steak Delicious Slow Cooker Recipe

If you’re looking for a hearty, flavorful meal that’s easy to make, this Teriyaki Slow Cooker flank steak recipe is the one for you. Perfect for a cozy family dinner or meal prep, this tender and savory beef flank steak dish is sure to be a new favorite in your kitchen. I love an easy slow cooker recipe for busy weeknight dinners and I know you will too.

My husband was quick to sign up for Butcher Box’s “Flank Steak for Life” when it was offered. We love to make my son’s favorite Korean Marinated Sesame Beef Bulgogi which is a little time-consuming. I am looking to create new recipes and different ways to cook for all our flank steaks in the freezer. This slow-cooked flank steak recipe is a new favorite as it is so easy to make.

Why Cooking Flank Steak is Perfect for the Slow Cooker:

Beef flank steak is a versatile cut of meat that works well in the slow cooker. Its lean texture absorbs marinades beautifully, making it tender and flavorful after hours of slow cooking. The crockpot’s low and steady heat breaks down the fibers of the steak, ensuring a melt-in-your-mouth finish.

For this recipe, the combination of soy sauce, pineapple juice, and sesame oil gives the flank steak a unique teriyaki twist, while the garlic and fresh ginger add an aromatic punch.

How to Make Teriyaki Flank Steak in the Slow Cooker:

Step 1: Marinate the Flank Steak:

The key to this delicious flank steak recipe lies in the marinade. In a large zip-lock bag, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, pineapple juice, and red pepper flakes. Add the thawed flank steak and sliced onion, ensuring everything is well-coated. Marinate in the refrigerator overnight, or for at least four hours.

Step 2: Set Up the Slow Cooker:

Add the marinated flank steak and all the marinade ingredients into your crockpot. Do your best to get the onion slices at the bottom of the pot.

Step 3: Set the Cooking Time:

Cook the steak on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours. The meat will be ready when it is tender enough to shred or slice. For optimal shredding, aim for an internal temperature of 200 to 210°F.

Tips for the Best Flank Steak:

  1. Pick the Right Cut:
While flank steak is ideal for this recipe, skirt steak also works well as a substitute. Both cuts perform beautifully in slow-cooked recipes due to their ability to absorb marinades.
  2. Don’t Skip the Marinade
The combination of soy sauce, brown sugar, and pineapple juice creates a perfectly balanced teriyaki flavor. Marinating the steak for a longer time enhances the depth of flavor.
  3. Pick the right time setting:
Slow cooking on low heat is the secret to that melt-in-your-mouth texture. If you’re tempted to speed things up, remember—good things take time!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

This slow cooker flank steak recipe is a game-changer for anyone who loves bold flavors but doesn’t want to spend hours in the kitchen.  The best part is it’s easy, customizable, and practically foolproof when you use your Crock Pot. Plus, a slow cooker meal is perfect for feeding a whole family or enjoying leftovers throughout the week. The recipe is so simple for super easy weeknight dinners.

The sweet and savory mix of teriyaki flavors works beautifully with the steak, and the crockpot makes the whole process so easy. You just marinade the night before, load up the CrockPot in the morning and 6 hours later you have dinner ready for you when the long day is done.

The other benefit is that the next day the leftovers are even tastier. This recipe is a simple way to cook once and have lunch for the next day.

Quick Tips and Answers:

Can I use a different cut of beef? Absolutely! Skirt steak or even carne asada cuts are great alternatives if flank steak isn’t available.

What’s the best way to store leftovers? Keep any leftover steak in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. It reheats beautifully in the microwave or on the stovetop. (But by day two it will be all gone – haha)

Can I make it spicier? Of course! Add extra red pepper flakes or toss in some sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
