After school snack time can be a precious time to regroup, relax and bond with your kids. Days get so busy with new teachers, new school building, we need time to cuddle on the couch & review the day and plan for tomorrow.
These days with so many processed snack food that should only be for a special treat, I like to have homemade fresh ingredients snacks that I know exactly what is in them.
5 Homemade Afterschool snacks that are easy with whole simple ingredients. Perfect for your little ones who are just starting school to have a small treat while you go over the day. If your kids are a little older they will love to learn how to bake each one of these. They all keep well for a few days. The cupcakes are a little messy and will only last a day or two because of the frosting. But if you changed up the frosting to just a regular vanilla they would keep longer.
(who am I fooling, if you make the s’more cupcakes and turn your back they will be gone. LOL)
The S’mores Cupcakes take a few extra steps than regular cupcakes. However, the fun of the graham cracker bottom and the marshmallow frosting is worth a little extra work. Right at the start of the new school year, they are perfect as a reminder of all the fun summer campfires.
Raspberry Oatmeal Snack Bars will become a family favorite. They are almost like a soft granola bar but you control what the kids eat. You can make these your own with any flavor preserves, but we have tired a few and raspberry is the best at least at our home.
Way better than the bags you get in the store and you control how much flavoring & the combination of the Chex Mix. I have for your our favorite combination but add or subtract the mix and it is your own, you can not go wrong. It does take about 1 and 1/2 hours to bake as it is baked at a slow and low temperature. Again do not turn your back and maybe make a double batch.
Soft & Chey, easy to mix up and bake Easy Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bar Cookes. If you are trying to get some whole grains in your little ones who only like peanut butter this is the afterschool snack for you. When my son was very little I just used a few of the mini chocolate chips and that was all I needed to sit on the couch and go over the day and get some nutrition in his little self.
Crisp on the outside & soft in the inside has made these Molasses Gingersnap Cookies a fall favorite. Just one or two of the cookies will remind you of your grandmother, and build strong memories for your little ones.
