This Bang Bang chicken recipe features juicy chicken breast marinated in a creamy Bang Bang sauce and then cooked on skewers or grilled on a grill pan.  Topped with the most delicious sriracha sauce for the perfect summer dinner.

The chicken is first marinated and smothered in a creamy, fiery bang bang sauce made with sweet chili sauce, sriracha sauce, and herbs,  for an irresistible spicy sauce. It’s our favorite way to enjoy a delicious chicken recipe, especially when you drizzle a little extra sauce on top! 

Make sure to make extra of the dipping sauce, it is one of our favorite sauces for leftover chicken. This summer grilling recipe is a delicious main course and a delicious appetizer for any party.

There are so many fun ways to change up your bang bang chicken skewers, depending on what you have on hand.

  • If you’re looking to switch things up, try adding bell peppers or pineapple chunks to your chicken skewers for extra flavor and sweetness. 
  • You can also bake the seasoned chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper at 400 degrees F for about 20- 25 minutes, flipping halfway through. 
  • If you want to use your air fryer,  place chicken in a basket of your air fryer in a single layer and cook at 375 degrees F for about 8- 10 minutes for juicy, tender results.
  • Top your skewers with a sprinkle of green onions and sesame seeds for extra color and crunch. 
  • If you are looking for options for a healthy chicken bowls, turn your skewers into bang bang chicken bowls! Simply slide the grilled chicken and veggies off the skewers and serve over a bed of jasmine rice. Top with green onions, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of bang bang sauce.

Ingredients needed for Bang Bang Chicken Recipe:

  • 1 pound chicken breasts or boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces (This feeds only two people without any leftovers- I recommend you double the recipe)
  • 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of Sriracha Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon each Salt and pepper

Ingredients needed for Spicy Sriracha Sauce:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until smooth. This spicy sauce also works well with bang bang shrimp if you want to recreate the famous Bonefish Grill classic at home!

  • 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoons Sriracha Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Lime Juice

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Marinate the uncooked chicken in all of the ingredients of the marinade for 30 minutes.
  2. While the chicken is marinating, mix together the sauce ingredients. And If using wooden or bamboo skewers, soak in warm water so they do not burn on the grill
  3. After 30 minutes, heat the grill to high heat. Use a grill pan so the chicken does not slip through. Or use skewers to assemble the chicken. You may still want to use the grill pan. Spray the pan with spray oil.
  4. Add the chicken skewers, or if using the grill pan, add the chicken all at once and separate.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the internal temperature is 165°F.

Grilling Tips and Hacks:

  • Grill your skewers over medium-high heat, turning every 3-5 minutes, until you reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F for tender chicken. (Cooking times will vary based on whether you’re using skewers, a grill pan, or directly on the grill. Keep an eye on them to avoid drying out!
  • If you’re using wooden skewers or bamboo skewers, be sure to soak them for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Otherwise, metal skewers are an easy, reusable option.

Ingredients
