How to Make Your Home Smell Like Fall
Want to make your home smell like fall without gaining 10 pounds? Placing a summering pot of potpourri on the stove will bring back the memories of Thanksgiving, Fall & Christmas without slipping off your healthy eating plan.
Every fall as the weather starts to chill, all I can think about is apple cider, apple cider donuts, maple glazed donuts, maple syrup on cinnamon pancakes, apple crisp, cinnamon rolls; I can go on and on. While I love all of these, foods because the smells bring me to my childhood, I could gain 10 pounds just writing this paragraph.
That is why I started every fall to make a simmering pot of my favorite foods to fill the house with the smell of fall. I have tried air fresheners but they can cause myself and my guests to have headaches. I like to keep my home a clean of harsh chemicals as I can. Especially with little kids in the house, having the natural smells of fall is just perfect.
The smell fills the house with a wonderful element of fall and fall favorites. Keeping the pot on the stove at a low simmer, every time you move in your kitchen or enter the room you will be transformed into a cool crisp fall day and jumping in leaves at your childhood home. When the water gets a little low just add more water.

You can keep this on the stove for a few days, and then it is time to make a new pot. The possibilities are endless of the combination you can make. If you like more apples and less orange go for it. Believe me, the clove and orange combo brings back the memories of tea with the women of our family on cold fall nights.
While we still want to enjoy the foods of fall, having a pot of fresh fall smells keeps me from overdoing the desserts each fall.
