In doing a quick look on the internet you can find that the tradition of eating sauerkraut and pork on New Year’s day and the week after, started in Germany.  Many of the traditions I learned growing up involved the German traditions and we always started January out with eating Sauerkraut.  Jim’s family also had this tradition, so naturally, this year, as all of the Januarys in our marriage, started out with Sauerkraut and Turkey Sausage.  Pork is good luck for the New Year, but I do not believe the superstition police will fault us for substituting turkey as we are watching our weight.

So for New Year’s day, this year I swapped out the sausage and sauerkraut and sausage for our regular go-to Turkey sausage. Jenny O is one of my favorite turkey products and I also often use Hillshire Farm.

  2. Visiting from the Bloggers Pit Stop – I’ve never used a pressure cooker – I’m afraid it will explode!! But your recipe looks really good

    1. With the Electric Pressure Cooker you do not have to worry. The lid will not open until the pressure is released. And it will not build pressure if you do not put the lid on correctly. So much safer than the old ones.
